The Other Stuff
I can’t get over where technology takes us, and as if the color reader is not enough to make this a great value, look at all the other things the Nook color reader can do for you. With built in wifi you need not put your book aside to check E-mail. Supports POP, IMAP for reading your yahoo, gmail, aol, or hotmail and makes getting there simple. (Corporate email can be accessed on the nook by downloading an app.) Add the convenience of a web browser and the ability to listen to music, view video, use a myriad of apps, games, and preloaded Pandora internet radio that rivals the functions of some tablets. I think I’m just going to call this a modern Swiss army knife that any one would be happy to have.
The Things People Don’t Like
Surprisingly the Nook ebook reader’s inability to support textbooks is an issue. The ability to view textbooks is there, but in my estimation, Barnes & Nobles wisely does not use the feature due to the small screen. They do offer text books for your p.c. or mac. which afford an excellent user experience and satisfy the studying needs of a student who must continually resource the material. They don’t stream netflix. It would be as awkward to read a book
on my fourty eight inch color television as it would be to watch a full featured movie on a Nook ebook reader color. Everything has a purpose. Finally the one point worth mention is the battery life is not as long as you might like, about eight hours. While I personally don’t find this a problem, in comparison to many other readers, this is a short time. The trade off for the short battery life is the brilliant color display, advanced web features, high resolution coupled with the screens backlighting and I love that.
What do I think of the Barnes & Noble ebook reader? Simply? Amazing.
